SUMMER SCHEDULE 2024

  • Move and Groove - June 17-20 or July 29-Aug 1

    Ages 18 mos - 3 years $40

    9:30 - 10:00 am or 5:00 - 5:30 pm

    Bring your little, and your best animal noises, for this fun Parent and Me class. Move & Groove is designed for the specific needs of toddlers. This parent/tot class is a wonderful introduction to the structure of a classroom while allowing the child the freedom to explore their own natural movement. We will explore movement, learn basic dance steps, and get lots of energy out. Come create some silly memories!

  • Totally Totz! - June 17-20 or July 29-Aug 1

    Ages 3 - 5 years $50

    10:45 - 11:30 am or 6:15 - 7:00 pm

    Not sure what your Tot might like? This camp will test the waters of dance at BDA. In one week, your three to five-year-old will get to try ballet, acro, pom, and hip hop all in one week! At the end of camp, your teacher will let you know where your dancer seemed to thrive the most. The perfect sampler to start your younger dancer!

  • Acro Rockin' and Rollin' - July 19 5:00 - 5:45 pm, July 20 10:00 - 10:45 am

    Ages 3 - 5 years $30

    For your little mover, this introductory acrobatic dance class will focus on basic types of rolls and poses to rock out in their next living room show. No experience is required.

  • Princess Ballerinas CINDERELLA - July 8-11

    Ages 3 - 5 years (Ballet levels intro & 1) $50

    5:30 - 6:15 pm

    Join Miss Kait and her princess ballerinas as they learn about kindness, being your best YOU, and supporting one another while they dance their way through an imaginary adventure in the story of Cinderella!

  • Adventures in Barbie Ballet - June 17-20 or July 29-Aug 1

    Ages 5 - 7 years (Ballet levels intro & 1) $50

    10:00 - 10:45 am or 5:30 - 6:15 pm

    Let’s explore the world of ballet together. Dancers will learn some terminology and technique basics. This session ends with a special performance at the end of the last day of class.

  • Ballet Variation Exploration - July 8-12

    Ages 8 - 12 years (Ballet levels 2-4) $68

    6:00 - 7:00 pm

    For each day of this workshop, you will work with a professional ballerina on different variations from classical ballets. The goal of this workshop is to have fun and learn some of Miss Eliza’s favorite ballet variations!

  • The Intensive - Ballet, Contemporary, and Modern - July 8-12

    Ballet Level 4-6 (Ages 11 & up) $165

    9:00 am - 2:30 pm

    This intensive is designed and directed by Erica Lohman, from American Midwest Ballet to include a survey of history, technique, and movement. Including, ballet, contemporary, modern, pointe, pilates, yoga, variations, improvisation, and progressive ballet technique. You’ll need to pack a lunch for these power-packed days of dance!

  • Musical Theatre Jazz Exploration - July 8-12

    Ages 8-12 years $68

    7:00 - 8:00 pm

    For each day of this workshop, you will learn a different musical theatre jazz combination. The goal of this workshop is to have fun and learn some Broadway favorites!

  • Pom Dance - July 8-11

    Ages 6-11 years $50

    4:00 - 4:45 pm

    Dancers will work with a UDA All American dancer to focus on sharp arm movements, execution of dance team/cheer skills.

    Dancers will learn fundamentals of Pom positions, performance skills and expand on their high energy, entertainment skills.

  • Dance Team Prep - July 8-11

    Ages 12 years and up $50

    4:45 - 5:30 pm

    Dancers will work with a UDA All American dancer to upgrade your dance team skills for high school dance team performance.

    The goal of this fast paced workshop will be to move toward technique and entertainment skills at the high school level.

  • Hula Essentials - July 20th

    Ages 7 years to adult $30

    10:45 am - noon

    Kick off your summer with some great poolside Hawaiian dance moves. This class is open to all, kids and parents! Come join us for an evening of island fun!

  • Line Dancing - July 19th

    Ages 6 - 12 years $30

    Let’s have some fun! Ultimate step-by-step instruction and introduction into the world of line dancing. Learn the basic of line dancing, how to count dance steps, find the rhythm, and gain confidence. This introduction line dance class will prepare you for any dance floor!

  • Tap Foundations - June 24-27

    Ages 5 to adult $60

    6:00 - 6:45 pm

    Before you buy the tap shoes, let’s explore what tap really is! For this introduction to the basics of tap, your dancer is welcome to attend class in tennis shoes and find out what the basics are all about. Once you fall in love with tap, your teacher will help you find the best spot for our regular season tap classes.

  • Musical Theatre Tap - June 24-27

    Ages 10 to adult $60

    5:15 - 6:00 pm

    This special class is designed to help dancers work on tap technique through the interpretation of fun musical theatre-style songs. Classic tap and heeled tap techniques will be explored along with the use of props! Dancers will learn combinations that will make them feel bound for Broadway!

  • Hip Hop FUNdamentals - June 24-27

    Ages 5 to adult $50

    5:15 - 6:00 pm

    This class for beginners specifically focuses on developing rhythm and coordination while encouraging individual style. Don’t be intimidated...great for boys and girls who want to be challenged, find your style, push creativity, and boost confidence.

  • Hip Hop Grooves - June 24-27

    Ages 10 to adult $50

    6:00 - 6:45 pm

    Now’s your chance to learn some hip-hop grooves inspired by some of the industry’s best. This workshop will walk you through easy-to-learn steps and phrases you can incorporate into your freestyle or show off at your next party!

  • Hip Hop - Aug 12-15

    Ages 13 to adult $50

    8:00 - 9:00 pm

    Use your creativity and develop your skills by learning choreography, grooves and moves to help you connect to the floor. This workshop will boost your confidence in hip-hop steps and phrases you can incorporate into your freestyle or show off at your next party!

  • Contemporary Choreography - July 8-11

    Ages 13 to adult $50

    5:15 - 6:00 pm

    Learn contemporary choreography and explore different ways of moving under the “contemporary” dance umbrella. We will learn excerpts from different contemporary choreographers whose works are performed by dance companies around the world, including Robert Battle of Alvin Ailey and Jiri Kylian or Netherlands Dance Theatre.

  • Ballroom Exploration - June 17-20

    Ages 6 - 12 years $65

    Adults and kids alike, this is the workshop for you! This is your chance to explore the world of ballroom dance.

    Younger dancers will learn some swing, our teens and adults will add on cha cha and rumba as well!

  • Cardio/Stamina - Aug 12-13 & 19-20

    Ages 7 years to adult $35

    6:00 - 6:30 pm

    Get ready to tackle your dances with ease by improving your stamina and working on your cardio! Let’s have some fun and get the work done! This workshop is intended to be taken in conjunction with the stretching workshop and for extra fun, you can add on the Pilates Workshop.

  • Stretching - Aug 12-13 & 19-20

    Ages 7 years to adult $35

    6:30 - 7:00 pm

    Struggling with your splits? Want higher kicks and more flexibility for your leaps? we will work on different stretches necessary to achieve greater flexibility. The Cardio/Stamina Workshop MUST be taken before this one for the stretching to be done safely. For extra fun you can add on the Pilates Workshop.

  • Pilates - Aug 12-13 & 19-20

    Ages 11 years to adult $70

    7:00 - 8:00 pm

    Learn the basics of pilates and improve your core strength and stability! Pilates will help improve your balance, turns, placement, and more :) This workshop is intended to be taken in conjunction with Cardio/Stamina and Stretching.

Teachers’ Assistant Workshop

Tuesday, August 27th - 6:00-8:00 pm

Have you ever wanted to be a teacher’s assistant in one of our younger classes? If you are older than 11 and interested, email us and we will send you the application. After August 1st, all submitted applications will be reviewed by our staff. You must then be invited to attend the workshop. All 2024-2025 TA’s must attend the workshop in order to participate in our teacher’s assistant program.

THEATRE WORKSHOPS

  • Camp Shakespeare - June 17th-20th

    Brand New to BDA

    Much Ado About Nothing

    Ages 12 - 18 years $275

    3:30-9:30 pm

    Camp Shakespeare will be a fun and unique summer arts experience your child will never forget. This is their chance to dive into the world of one of the most celebrated playwrights in history: William Shakespeare.

    ★ Transform into Shakespeare’s characters through voice, movement, and imagination

    ★ Unlock Shakespeare’s language through text analysis

    ★ Learn the safety and storytelling of stage combat

    ★ Perform a full one act production for friends and family

    ★ Performance will be Thursday, June 20th at 7:30 pm

    If you want to have a lead role, you must be registered by May 20th. You will receive an email for a self-tape audition. Lead roles will be determined by June 1st, so that scripts can be distributed and we can start memorizing before camp begins. Ensemble will not need to submit a self-tape!

    We are so excited to celebrate our 18th year together!

    THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

    The show is based upon The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons, which depict a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre. These beloved characters have been seen on television and in movies for over 50 years!

    Come and join our Summer Theatre Camp leaders to create and learn about props, sets, costumes, and other aspects of technical theatre. If you are crafty or like to watch our STC performance and see everything you have made, this workshop is for you! This summer our workshop will be lead by graphic designer and professional scenic artist, Molly Sorensen. Miss Molly has lots of new learning activities to share with you!

    As a professional dancer herself, Miss Eliza is excited to bring private Ballet Boot Camp Lessons to you! Break down ballet technique and start to gain more confidence or even improve your technique scores for competition! Be ready to start your lessons feeling like a beginner and finish them stronger and more confident than ever before.

  • Aaron Williams

    Mr. Aaron received his BFA in Dance with a minor in Film Production from Missouri State University. This summer he will be available for private acro lessons as well as upcoming workshops in Partnering, Stage Combat and Tricking.

The Los Angeles Connection

We have four incredibly talented professional dancers joining us this summer to present workshops on a variety of dance styles. Until we can get more details on specifically when, let’s introduce you to these amazing performers ...

VICTORIA BALDESARRA

Victoria Baldesarra is an actress, dancer and dance teacher based out of Los Angeles, California and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Toronto-native began her dance career at the age of 3 years old and grew up dancing in the North American competitive dance circuit. Having been trained at one of the most prestigious dance schools in all of Ontario – Victoria was a member of Team Canada’s National dance team, where the team were Bronze medalists in Germany 2010. In summer of 2012, Victoria auditioned for what is now known as the hit International dance show – The Next Step. Victoria has led over 7 seasons of The Next Step, reprising her role of Michelle. She has traveled all around the globe on multiple international dance tours with her cast mates of The Next Step. Victoria has worked alongside music artists such as Ghasi, G-Eazy, Ty Dolla Sign, and many more. She also appeared in Netflix’s Lost & Found Music Studios, Tall Boyz (CBC), Private Eyes (Ion TV), and currently has a few different film projects in the works.

ALLY COVIN

Ally Covin is a Los Angeles based actor, dancer, choreographer and teacher. Ally has been a performer since she was 3 years old and has been studying acting / dance for over 20 years. Some of her accomplishments/ appearances include continued work for the Lifetime network, national commercials and a co-star role in a feature film set to release this fall on Netflix. She is also an experienced celebrity choreographer, instructing in studios in both New York City and Los Angeles. Originally from the cornfields of Omaha, Nebraska, she enjoys sharing her passion and bringing a new dynamic to the community of artists in sunny LA.

EMARY SIMON

Emary Simon discovered her love for performing at the age of two. After winning several national championships in dance, she left her home in Appleton, Wisconsin and moved to Chicago for more opportunity. At the age of 15, she started traveling city to city every weekend assisting world renowned choreographers such as Brian Friedman for the “Pulse on Tour'' dance convention. Her first dance solo was called “I Want To Go To Hollywood”, and she has now been based in Los Angeles for six years living out her lifelong dream of being a dancer and actress. Some of Emary’s accomplishments and appearances include multiple feature films on the Lifetime network as an actress, The Ellen Show with Camilla Cabella, and more. Emary also shares her love for dance and performing through choreography, and her students have had much success. She is passionate about what she does, and loves sharing it with others. She looks forward to continuing living out her dreams as a professional dancer, actress, and choreographer and can't wait to see what the future brings.

JULIE VEGLIANTE

Julie Vegliante is a professional commercial dancer/teacher and choreographer based out of LA. She is the owner and artistic director of our sister studio, The Hype Dance Complex in Los Angeles, CA. Growing up in Connecticut, Julie was classically trained from a young age at the New Haven Ballet. As she grew up in the competition world, she thrived with her intricate tap solos. After attending Dean College as a dance major, Julie moved to New York City to train in hip hop and commercial dance at the Broadway Dance Center Program. A former member of the NYC elite urban dance company, Generation X, Julie has trained under some of the worlds greatest hip hop OG's and has a fluid understanding of hip hop dance. Signed with the MSA Agency for the past 6 years, she has worked with: Lady Gaga, Matrix L’Oreal, American Eagle, Ulta Beauty, Lifetime TV Network, music videos and many more... Julie has taught at Millennium Dance Complex (LA), Peridance Capezio center (NYC), studios and conventions in Guatemala, Beijing, London, Scotland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Canada and all across the US.
